Merit-Based Scholarships, Fellowships, and Honors Programs

As competition among universities for the best students intensifies and as government funding continues to shrink, City College’s commitment to educating the best, regardless of a student's financial background, remains steadfast. Through undergraduate scholarship, graduate fellowship and opportunity funds, you can help steward gifted students as they embark on a lifetime of achievement.

Today, one of these programs below, we continue to recruit and retain the best and brightest at City College. Many of our students focus on the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), while others pursue the myriad social sciences and humanities programs that City College offers. With the support of donors, these talented students receive not only tuition support but also unique educational experiences beyond the classroom, such as access to competitive research projects, international study abroad and specialized internships, to realize their leadership potential. Through philanthropy, City College is able to nurture future generations of world-class leaders by providing these highly deserving students with opportunities they otherwise would not have.

President’s Community Scholars

Our commitment to our surrounding community is undeniable. The establishment of the President’s Community Scholars Program in 2010 is our commitment to educating the highest achieving students from local high schools. These students are offered full tuition scholarships and commit to engaging in community service during college.

Grove Honors Program

Exceptional students who intend to major in engineering are admitted to the Grove School of Engineering, where they can work alongside dedicated faculty in some of the best equipped laboratories in New York City. All Grove Honors students are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

City College Honors Program

Students selected for the City College Honors Program thrive in challenging programs set in small classes, which include intensive interdisciplinary courses in the humanities, sciences and social sciences. These students are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Macaulay Honors Program

Approximately 140 exceptional freshmen are selected into the Macaulay Honors Program each fall. The program, which has students at eight colleges, encourages the highest level of academic accomplishment, cross-campus community, career exploration and service.
