Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at
Center for Worker Education

Thanks to philanthropic support, the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Center for Worker Education (CWE) provides an excellent education to working adults from New York City and surrounding regions. Our academic programs are designed for students whose access to higher education may have been limited or interrupted due to financial limitations, work responsibilities, and family obligations.

We offer an interdisciplinary bachelor of arts degree, a bachelor of science degree in early education, and a number of certificate programs. Your support will allow life-long learners to achieve their educational goals and make the college dream possible for many individuals.

Thanks to donor support, we have been able to:

  • Establish the Verizon Literacy in Technology Program to enhance the teaching infrastructure and curriculum with state-of-the-art software.
  • Provide financial assistance to exceptional students through funds such as the Mathew K. Amberg Scholarships.
  • Create the Albert A. Blum Prize to recognize students for academic excellence.
  • Enrich the student experience by offering unique educational opportunities, such as the William I. Shore Semester in Israel Fellowship, which allows undergraduate students from any major to spend a semester abroad at Hebrew University of Ben Gurion University in Israel.
