Townsend Harris Society
We invite you to join the thousands of individuals who have made The City College of New York a priority in their charitable giving. You can be part of the leader who will build City College for the next generation by making a gift, renewable each year, that qualifies you for membership in the Townsend Harris Society.
The City College of New York was originally founded as the Free Academy of New York in 1847 by businessman and president of the Board of Education, Townsend Harris. Named in his honor, the Townsend Harris Society is comprised of generous donors who make significant contributions to City College each year. Townsend Harris Society members have exclusive opportunities to engage with the school and participate in by invitation only events. Depending on membership level, you may gain access to some of the following benefits:
- Insider's e-newsletter
- Recognition at university events
- Invitations to exclusive City College events and networking opportunities
- Honoring an individual or organization through a named scholarship or fellowship, based on giving level
